We all need a little help sometimes - with the right person, positive changes can happen

Why now…….

We all experience times in our life when we find things difficult or challenging. Sometimes we can also feel an overwhelming experience of dissatisfaction with life. Maybe you are struggling with difficult emotions such as anger, depression, anxiety, jealousy, guilt or shame. Or maybe you’re finding it difficult to cope with unhelpful behaviours.

Why Counselling……

Perhaps you have tried to solve these problems with the help of family and friends, but are still feeling stuck or misunderstood. Then counselling may be able to help you make sense of your problems and help you find a solution

There is tremendous value in talking through your ideas, problems, and feelings with a counsellor who has the experience, training and expertise to understand what you are going through, and help you create a plan to turn your life around. You will be supported for the length of your therapy.

About Me

I am a Drogheda based, fully qualified & accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapist & I am also an Accredited Supervisor registered with the IACP.

I provide a Confidential, Safe and Professional Service for Adults, Adolescent’s & also for Couples. Counselling can be provided Face to Face, On-line or by Telephone. During Counselling I will support you to talk about your life and your issues in a safe and respectful way. I will help you to gain a better understanding and insight into your problems and emotions, and ultimately achieve a positive and constructive resolution of your issues.

My main way of being in my Practice is with a Person Centred, Humanistic approach – but I am also trained in CBT, Gestalt, Mindfulness & Family Systems Therapy. This means that I respect the human capabilities of the Client and have confidence in their ability to grow and to change. The goal is to find out how the client perceives themselves in the here and now, to become aware of their mindset and to recognise their own patterns of thinking & behaviour. This approach utilises a non-judgmental, non-directive attitude of the counsellor and helps the client become aware of their own strengths.

I also look at what unconscious thoughts and processes are showing themselves in the client’s behaviour. The goal is to help the client become more aware of how the past has influenced their current thoughts and behaviours by helping them work through unresolved issues and conflicts they may have with significant people in their lives.

As we all view and experience the world very differently the issues that affect you, and the way in which they affect you, are very different to the way they can affect others. Learning to understand your own coping mechanisms and defence mechanisms, can make you aware of your own repeated patterns & cycles of Behaviours.
